Does Calgary Consulate gives passport back the same day of the interview?

Yes, you always get your passport back the same day. If you're approved for a visa, you'll get the passport back with the visa in it. If you're not approved that day, you'll get your passport back with a stamp in it. Hopefully, a stamp to show your case is pending, not a refusal stamp. So if they need to do a background check, you can travel somewhere else while you're waiting, just not to the USA.

If you're approved for a visa in Calgary, you get your passport back the NEXT DAY, not the same day. If you're not approved, you get your passport back the same day. They say the computer checks they need to do before printing a visa take longer than they used to, so they can't print the visas by 3:00 the same day, like they used to. Plan your travel accordingly, and avoid Friday interviews if you don't want to spend the weekend in Calgary.
