Green card for baby born in India to parents who are green card holders

My husband and I are both Greencard holders. Our son was born in India and we intend to take him to the US in December.

Is anyone aware of the procedure at the port of entry in the US when I take my infant baby ( 3 months) to the US on my first trip back after my son's birth. I understand that GC is automatically granted on arrival. In cases, they may call us back to "local office" to complete the procedure.

1. If we are called back to the local office, can I request another city to complete the procedure other than my port of entry?

2. Any documents that i need to take along other than his birth certificate?

Any information is appreciated.

Section 211.1 (b) says so.

(b) A waiver of the visa required in paragraph (a) of this section shall be granted without fee or application by the district director, upon presentation of the child's birth certificate, to a child born subsequent to the issuance of an immigrant visa to his or her accompanying parent who applies for admission during the validity of such a visa; or a child born during the temporary visit abroad of a mother who is a lawful permanent resident alien, or a national, of the United States, provided that the child 's application for admission to the United States is made within 2 years of birth, the child is accompanied by the parent who is applying for readmission as a permanent resident upon the first return of the parent to the United States after the birth of the child, and the accompanying parent is found to be admissible to the United States.

yes, the infant is admitted into the US as a permenant residant (Make sure you meet all the conditions listed in the law). He should have a seperate passport, 2photos and birth certificate. The infants passport will be sealed with a temporary GC. We got a Welcome Letter with his A# from the USCIS. Awaiting the physical GC (estimated with in the next 30 days).
