asylum seeker married US citizen

Hello. I desperately need your advise.
I applied for political asylum three years ago and my case is already in the immigration court but it has not reviewed by immigration judge yet. Recently I married US citizen. My lowyer advised me to close asylum case and continue with marriage. I fired my lowyer just a couple days ago, because of her incompetence and I am gonna have final hearing on November 20, very soon. She told that she already filed papers and sent them to the court to close my asylum case. What should I tell to judge when I appear in the court? Can I adjourn my hearing yet I find another lowyer? If she did not close my asylum case how can I do that myself?
