Hello ..

I am from Karachi Pakistan

I get my passport back from consular section on 8th Nov 2006 .. and was shocked to see that my Immigrant Visa were already expired on 1st Nov 2006 ... i was given 12 days Visa ... When I talk to the embassy person through phone .. "He told me that according to the law we cannot give u new VISA .. u r unfortunate "
So

1. Is there any way ... I can get my renewed VISA ?
2. Is there any law about expiring of VISA.

Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!!! & give your suggestions ... Thanks

What sort of immigrant visa was it? On what basis did you obtain it? Giving us these details might allow folks here to advise you better.

All the best.

Local DO

You should go a local USCIS office and ask to speak to a rep. I am not sure how much they know about your situation, but you are better off talking to someone there.

Also, what type of immigrant visa do you have?

My advise, please find a non-profit organization which offer help to immigrants, and explain your situation. If you go to USCIS website, find the field office section and search for your local offices and in that web page, there are organizations which are listed by USCIS district office in your area. If I were you, will call them immediately all of these organizatione and make an appt, because lawyers, like women, are expensive.

Good luck...

I might have taken a year off from Columbia Law School, but I ate a "macaca" burger in VA last night....

Are you in the US already, or are you still in Pakistan? If you're in the US, make an Infopass appointment with USCIS and also contact an attorney. If you are outside the US, I don't know what else to suggest except to approach the US embassy again to see what's going on.

All the best.

Is your father, the sponsor, in the US? Perhaps he can take it up on this side -- since it is a benefit to him (having his relative granted a green card) that appears to have been denied. Can he speak to an atttorney in the US?

What is the visa issuance date?

If its recent then looks like a mistake by embassy. Immigrant visa are normally valid for six months.

I would suggest you to call embassy and explain them. If possible try to visit embassy and explain your situation. Try to get a supervisor.
