H-1 ???

I was working on OPT and had applied for H1 starting 1 Oct 2006. My H1 application made it through the quota but my employment was terminated before the application was approved, and still waiting to hear. I am likely to get another job, but can the new employer use the same EAC/case number to apply within the quota for Oct 2006?
