If a greencard-holder giver birth outside of the USA, what is the status of the baby?

If a greencard-holder giver birth outside of the USA, what is the status of the baby?

For example, Jane Doe, a greencard-holder, visits Canada for a couple of weeks, and gives birth to a baby while in Canada... Can the baby return to the US with Jane? If so, what is the baby's immigration status once back inside the US?

Thanks for any info!

I'm a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States. I've recently given birth to a child. What type of visa does he/she require to return with me to the United States?

You will not require a visa for your child if: he/she is under two years of age; it is his/her first entry into the United States since birth; and he/she is being accompanied by the parent who is applying for readmission as a permanent resident upon the parent's first return to the United States after the child's birth. Your child will require his or her own passport, if not included on the accompanying parent's passport, and his/her long form birth certificate, listing both parents' names. In the event that one parent is a citizen of the United States, the foregoing information should be disregarded and an application must be made for a U.S.passport.

I have the similar situation. I am a permanent resident and temporally working in Canada under 2 year contract. I am going to give birth to a baby next year before my contract is over. Then I will return with my baby to US next summer.

So I need to apply for Canadian passport and birth certificate for the baby before the trip back to US and there is no visa required for entry? What is the processing for the baby to become permanent resident? Will the baby get green card right at Port of Entry or have to apply once he gets inside? Is the application straightfoward and how long it takes?

By the way, my husband has canadian citizenship. Will that affect the baby getting green card? I don't know about the laws. In order to get the green card for the baby, does it require both parents being permanent residents or just one of them being permanent resident is enough?

Thanks!
