Question Please suggest, worried

Hi,

I got my Gc card 2 months back.( Aug 06). I am in India since end July due to some family emergencies, so I was not in US when I got my cards. I am yet to go back.
Can anyone suggest how early should I go back to US? How much time I need to be present in US before travelling again to India again?

Can I apply for reentry permit from India?
Please help me.

Thanks

------------- be back before 6 months from the date you went out(that is to save time for citizenship) Or you should be back Before 1 year of your departure date. ask your friend/relative to send you your GC throuth some relative or use Fedex

-----------NO
Save time for citizenships means what?
--------------- If your trip out of US is less then 6 months then you can file Citizenship 4years 9 months after you got GC. If the stay is more than 6 months then the time spent out of US breaks continued residence

normally after getting GC i need to wait 4 years before applying citizenship i think, am i right?

No I dont have GC stamp in my passport, As my GC was approved after I left US. So does it mean there is no way for me to get my cards for several months (during my stay in India) till i go back to US?

what is employement based GC or family based GC.
do you have valid AP with you. if yes you can enter with AP and at POE they will admit you.

I do have advance parole. But I didnot get my welcome letter or approval notice before I left..So can I get my cards after I reach US?
moreover I didnot expect my cards to come, so I didnot give my mailbox access to anyone.

I was in your situation back in Jan2005. My GC got approved on Dec20, 2004. I was in India at that time on vacation. I came back on Jan16, 2005 with a valid AP. At the POE, I think they stamped (temporary I-551 stamp)and let me in. After that I got an infopass and later got my cards by mail. It took few weeks to get the actual cards.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

-----------if you have valid Advance approval enter US BEFORE AP gets expired and at POE they will know that your GC is approved and let you enter US then you may find welcome letter or approval notice or Card or go to local USCIS with infopass and get your passport stamped.

moreover I didnot expect my cards to come, so I didnot give my mailbox access to anyone.
