I married a US citizen-can i travel to canada?

I am a canadian citizen in the usa right now.I got married to a US citizen about a month ago.We have not received the marriage certificate yet and i have not started any immigration paperwork yet.

I need to renew my drivers license in canada and take care of money matters up there also. Can i leave the usa to do this? These business matters are actually quite urgent and require my physical presence.

FYI-Canadians do not need i 94 or other paperwork/visa to travel cross the US border.

Thanks

you are correct that we dont need a i94 but if you go back to canada you take the chance in not being able to get back across the boarder into the us..I didnt have my divers lisence for years because of this possiable problem...when my dad passed away and i went up for the funeral i was just lucky when i crossed I didnt have any problems (went via greyhound) and wasnt asked anything nor had to show id...Good luck and hopefully if you chose to go you wont have any issues

when you say you didnt show id crossing the border and no problems-do you mean going into canada by greyhound? How did you get back in the usa and did you fly back into the states??What id did the usa guards want to see?
Finally when you applied for your gc did they ask you if you had left the usa?
Were you married when you went up to canada?

I need any info i can get thanks....
