Giving up green card
I have a friend who is a citizen of a Nordic country. She has the green card for the last 5 years. She is never going to get a US citizenship because her country doesn't allow dual citizenship. Now she has just moved to another country. She plans to live there for a few years and doesn't plan to live permenantly in the US in the future.
She wants to give up her green card ASAP for a few reasons. It is too much trouble (or is impossible) to maintain her green card while living abroad. She doesn't have to do the tax filing starting 2007. She doesn't want to deal with immigration's questioning when she visits friends in the US. She just wants to use her passport to visit friends in the US in the future. As a citizen of a Nordic country, she never needs a visa to just visit US. So the questions are as followed. How does she go about giving up her green card? After she gives up the green card, will the immigration officer gives her troubling when she visits US using her passport? In the future, if she changes her mind and decides to live in the US and apply a green card through her husband (a US citizen), will that be a problem? T
