Getting Married in Canada

I'm a US citizen, but I"m marrying a Canadian....

Are there any permits and/or visas I need to go to Canada and be legally married?

I know, odd thread in this forum....

Any replies appreciated.

You may have a better shot by posting in the Canada section of the forum. But I think it depends on whether you plan to live in Canada after getting married or whether you're getting married there and then moving back to the States, but I'm not sure.

What my wife and I did, though, was just showed up at the border, told them exactly what we were doing (getting married in Canada and then getting her PR card), didn't have any paperwork at all (we didn't have that "Landed Immigrant" stuff that you're supposed to fill out well before) and they still let her in (visitor visa) with all her stuff and she still got her PR card months later.
