Still Confused I-130 Parent upgrade to Citizen

My mother applied for my I-130 few years back. Recently she has become a US citizen.
I am looking the best path to accelerate my application.

I have consulted and read many conflicting instructions.

Some tell me do nothing and my status will be automatically upgraded to Level one preference while others tell I need to inform immigration formally of my mom new status. Still others suggest any movements by me may cause my processing date to be pushed back.

I appreciate any help on this.

Your preference category won't be upgraded automatically. Your mom needs to upgrade her petition by sending them a copy of her citizenship certificate.
As for the need to upgrade it, you can decide yourself by looking at current visa bulletin: http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frv...etin_3009.html.
If you're under 21, you won't need to wait anymore, once your mom's petition is upgraded.
If you're over 21, then by upgrading the petition your wait would be 2 years shorter.
So, in any case, it is better for you to upgrade your mom's petition.
Good luck!
