Approved in Hartford
Hi guys,
I just got my interview yesterday (June 26th 2006) and I got approved here is the story :interview scheduled at 09:40 AM, my wife and I arrived at 09:00 (it's said on the letter to not arrive more than 45 minutes early). Everything goes fine, we go all the way to the waiting room (pretty full), we wait a long long long time and someone comes to say that the officers are in reunion (pfff how can they decide to get a reunion when so many people are waiting. Or maybe it was just an excuse and the person meant that the officers were getting a breakfast party ). After a few more minutes the first officer appears and calls someone (it was 09:45 and some persons with an interview scheduled at 07:45 were still here waiting for their turn). They finally called us at 11:40 (2 hours wait ). The officer asked for our IDs and my wife's naturalization document. The officer checked everything and then asked how we met and if we have some joint documents to show her. We only had a cellphone bill, the 2005 IRS tax return, and a joint checking account. I explained that I just got my SSN a month ago and I had my own health insurance because my wife has hers from her job. She asked if we had some photos to show her, we said 'yes' and shew them to her.My wife and I prepared a photo album before the interview, we regrouped the photos where we are together and organized them from the first day we met (summer 2001) to our last vacations this summer. The officer took two pictures of our wedding and made some copies. The officer kept my EAD and stamped my passport after taking of my visa (I came last summer using the Visa Waiver Program since I am a french citizen). She explained us what this stamp means and what we need to do (between 1 year 9months and 2 years my wife and I have to send proofs that we are still together... and in 2years 9months I can apply for the US Citizenship )She also said that I should receive my green card in less than 30 days )The officer was really friendly and a little bit confused probably because she didn't know what to ask us (the documents we previously provided were probably enough). I was really surprised too to receive so quickly some emails from the USCIS website, saying that the I-130 petition has been approved and that a Welcome letter has been mailed after my interview for the I-485). Documents we brought: - all the one requested in the Interview form (except my wife's Birth Certificate --> we didn't need it, but I recommend you take it if you have it ). - photo album - marriage certificate (surprised that the officer didn't ask to see it. Maybe because we already sent it when we sent all the forms previously). - all kind of joint documents available. (joint bank account, bills, tax return) I hope my experience can be helpful ![]() I will be glad to answer questions, the same way members of this forum helped me prepare my interview.
