Well, there is a memorandum that is published (I don't know about the Memo that your lawyer says because does not appear in several websites neither at USCIS) and says that nobody will be granted a green card until the background/name check and all security checks are done and that does not depend on USCIS.
The timeline depends on your District Office. There are some- like some offices at California- that their processing time is very fast and people even get their interview notice before the get their EAD. Not all are like that. If your lawyer is so kind would be good that he send to you the Memo so you can share it over here, and be sure what is about. |

The best DO is Buffalo, NY (also includes Syracuse and Rochester NY). You get your Interview Notice 12 days after your ND. The actual interview is around 30-35 days after that.
Damn that's fast

the processing times for the Buffalo office posted on the USCIS website seem a LOT longer than that (although no specific timeline for interviews) - was that the case when your 12-day notice happened as well, and you got the quick notice despite the "official" times, or have they slowed down severely since then? I would really like some more accurate info on the Buffalo times - anyone...?? Thanks!! |

I am not aware of this memo. However, note that receiving an interview notice does not mean the application is ready to be approved. The person can attend the interview and be told to await approval until background checks clear.
