Working abroad on GC

Here is a good thread moderated by a lawyer which shows a person can work abroad for temporary purpose with clear intention to come back:

Note the person who is doing whatever in this thread is likely to earn some income abroad and may/may not qualify for exclusion based on for example physical presence test. The person over there will be paid in a foreign country and from the US but more in a foreign country I would guess.

I am not saying this is all exactly the same as the case I described. But it shows that in certain instances it is okay to work abroad on a temporary basis with clear intention to come back.
