Help needed regarding I1-30

Hi,

I am new to this website and really needed some help. A friend of mine referred me to ths website and said there were a lot of ppl who are in a similar situation as mine and can help me too.

So here is my situation:
I filed my application for GC (my wife is a USC) in Jan of this year (Jan 15th to be precise is my notice date)

And here is the status as of now:
I got my EAD and AP (I-131) approved as of now and have the papers /card already in my hand.

Here are a few things which are troubling me:

1. When I track me status online(https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp) through this link for my I-130 application it says a decision will be made wthin 30 - 90 days. I am almost nearing my 90 day period and still there has been no decision. Should I be worrying? I know the I130 kicks of the I-485 process.

2. My District Office is Newark and I mailed all my papers together (I130, I485, I131, I765) to the Chicago Lock Box.
The 2 sub questions I have in regards to this are:
2a. Is the I-130 processed in the local Newark office or the Chicago office or even any other office?

2b. When tracking to ths link (https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp?) - The service center does not have Chicago (California, Nebraska, Texas, Vermont). So where can I track what dates for I-130 are being currently processed.

3. The reason for my anxiety is that I already have my EAD card and have a couple of job offers which I am on the verge of accepting. But just want to make sure that my I-130 is approved (not that it has anything to do with my job - they want EAD) but am just being a little paranoid to make sure that I am on the right path.

I really appreciate any help and thank everybody in advance.

You don't have anything to worry about.
The forms are being processed separately, e.g. your EAD was processed by the NBC, your I-130 is being processed by the Service Center for your area and your I-485 is processed by your local District Office.
Some in this forum already have their I-485 approved but haven't had any news about their I-130.

The Chicago Lockbox where you sent your forms to is something like a distribution area, where your forms are being checked for completeness.
And then they are being pre-processed by the NBC, the former Missouri Service Center.
Your service center for the I-130 would be Vermont, I think.

There is a thread about the different processing places:
http://www.immigrationportal.com/sho...d.php?t=208865

And you are good to work as long as you got your EAD. Don't need an approved I-130 for that, I mean, that's what the EAD is for: So you can work before the paperwork is done.

I know it's all a little confusing at first, but stick around and you will understand more and more.

Patty is absolutely right, you have nothing to worry about. As far as I-130 is concerned... earlier I had noticed that most of the applicants got their I-130 approved around the time of the approval of their I-485, however, of late, the I-130 (for a USC)are being approved much earlier.

You should try to track your I-485 online... just create an online account and add your I-130 and I-485 cases using the corresponding receipt nos. Since you are the spouse of a USC, the processing of your I-485 will not wait the approval of the I-130.

And again - as Patty said, it's all a little confusing at first, but if you hang around a while, you will soon be answering questions from others. We've all been there

Hi Patty & a_usc,

Thank you both so much for your prompt replies. Now I know why my friend was so right about using this website. Within few hours of my posting all of my concerns as of now are cleared.

So now all the centers and the processing they do is pretty crystal clear.

I know Patty mentioned that mine DO being Newark, My service center (where I-130 processing should be done) might be Vermont.

Can any body please just confirm that because I was just checking the processing dates for I-130 over there and it is Dec 03, 2005 (for filing for spouse) - which means I still have a good month to go before my application is picked up.

Also a_usc - you are right about the trend of processing for I-130. For my case again - The current I-485 processing date (Newark DO) is Sept 12 2005 whereas as mentioned above the I-130 processing date for Vermont (where my file should supposedly be) has a current processing date of Dec 03 2005.

So again thank you so much for such prompt replies and yes I definitely will be hanging in here and trying to help other ppl too.

Newark is in New Jersey, right?
According to this:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffic...ters/index.htm
your service center is Vermont.

It is always good to check out the USCIS official website www.uscis.gov to verify anything you read in here. There are people with amazing knowlegde and experience here, but just to be sure yourself, you should always try and read what the "source" has to say!

Hi Patty,

Yes Newark is in New Jersey and I did check on the link you have provided. It does say Vermont for my Service Center.

I am amazed how much knowledge you people have regarding the links at the uscis website. I am going to take your advice and try scanning through the complete webste for more in-depth information.

Thanks so much once again for all the help.

Hi

As you know - just last week I was asking abouot the status on I-130 (as shown in conversation above) and just this Friday (April 28th) I got my interview notice for June end date.

I was surprised because I wasnt expecting it to come so soon. For people reading - my DO is Newark and my interview date has come in less than 5 months of submitting my application.

Now here is my dilema - I have a few strong offers pending since last week and I was about to accept one of them on Monday May 1st 2006 (to start working on my EAD - currently I am on H1B - my wife being a USC).

Now after reading the interview notice - It says they need 2 months of paystubs for both of us when we appear for the interview. This is just one of the proof BUT I am just anxious that whether I should change jobs (starting date for my new job being May 3rd week) just a month ago my GC interview or should I just stick with my exisitng job showing that I have been working with them for 1.5 yrs.

I know that my job changing has nothing to do with my GC per se - once I got my EAD - I can technically work for any employer but just as a measure of precaution to show stability should I stick wth my current job (though my new job is substantial pay increase).

Please - need help from all you ppl - any advice will be really helpful.
