Green card holder marrying someone in India

Hi.

I have a green card for about three years now. The question is - if I get married to someone in India, how do they come to the US and what is the process for that . I ve heard that it takes forever.
Is that true ?

Any pointers/information appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, unfortunately it does take forever...
Once you get married, the process usually takes 5 years for a LPR to sponsor his spouse.
In the mean time, the spouse is not supposed to be in the US, unless he/she has a valid visa.

It " only" takes about a year for a USC to sponsor his/her spouse.

UniteFamilies.org

samds,

I understand your plight. It would take over 5 years to be united with your spouse. She would not qualify for a visitor or student visa. She can get an H-1 or L-1 provided she qualifies for those visas.

Consider joining UniteFamilies.org , a group dedicated to ending the lengthy separation faced by permanent residents and their spouses/children.

Thank you.
