When to do name change

When is the best time to do the name change as a wife of a USC? is it b4 going to get the work authorization? is it going to be required during the first interview or the second one? When is it absolutely necessary? And if u dont do it, does it hurt your case in any way?

Thanks

changing your last name is totally your decision. It does not affect your application in any way. You should use the same name in all your applications to avoid confusion. If you can, try to finish the name change process "before" you file for AOS.

....and if you didn't change before you file for AOS, but you still want, you can change in N-400 form

"N" stands for naturalization. If you didn't notice, all the forms you filed start with the letter "I" for immigrant or immigration, not sure...
As for the name change, I actually just posted about my experience that I got married and immediately contacted my credit card companies, bank, etc to change my name. ThenI got my DL with my married name too. Only things I couldn't do yet were change my name with the SSA (which is your official name) bc I didn't have my EAD, but now I do Also when I filed my taxes, I had to use my maiden name bc the IRS won't accept name different from the SSA records.
So why not go ahead and change everywhere that is possible? My EAD already has my married name, so it won't cause confusion.

Thanks thats good news because i put my wife married name on EAD application thank god, the I-485 i was rushed and did not think of it because so many of the documents you submit were her maiden name on them i thought it would cause confusion, i didnt think but at least with married name on EAD she can get SSA# in married name , change credit acrsd , bank ,DL etc....tahnks again, i sent the letter to MSC to request name change on I-485 we will see what happens ?
