I filed I-130 & 1-485 at USCIS Vermont on March 13th. How long would it take to get a receipt no?

Hello,

I think I got my receipts a week or two later. Don't worry just be patient. Check anyways in the Time Line threads to see if you can find someone else in your area and compare.

That depends on how long it'll take them to send it to Chicago Lockbox

What has the Chicago Lock Box got to do with it? I am a resident of Baltimore area and per the regulations I am supposed to file my papers at the Vermont Service Center. Please explain. Thanks.

Since you guys file I-130/I-485 I take it your applying for a family based GC.
My understanding is, that in these cases you're entitled to send it to Chicago.

You might want to check other threads on this board or here:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-485.htm

What I"m trying to say is there's a chance that VSC sent your package to Chicago just to stick to the procedure.

If I-130 and I-485 are filed concurently the package should be mailed to Chicago LockBox

And if I'm not wrong, Tina Turner's song was:

"What's love got to do with it?"
not
"What has the Chicago Lock Box got to do with it?"

USCIS would either return the application to you or fwd them to the NBC. Either ways, it would delay your case.

Received acknowledgement and Receipt Nos for I-130/I-485/I-765

I had filed the applications on March 13th at Vermont Service Center. I received the receipt nos. for the applications on March 27th. That's within 14 days. Pretty impressive.

That is weird...normally everything is through Chicago Lockbox per isntructions and the receipts are from MSC.
Normally are within 2 weeks.

This case is totally new...your case is based in what?

I am also curious what your case is based on? is it marrige to a USC beacause in another forum that I used to read, a lady that has a similar case like your, her application was return to her to re-send it to Chicago office.

Good luck and all the best!
