Urgent advice: Need to take care of sick parent

Hi,
My mom is suffering from a terrible disease.
My wife and I have GC for the last 1 year.
I may have the option from my company to work remotely for the forseeable future. I plan to work from India for 3 months at a time, come to the US for 15 days and head back to India.
I will have to visit US anyways for meetings etc. I will bring my wife along as well during those trips.

Do I need to get rentry permit for this kind of thing? I dont know how long this is going to happen. I hope my mom recovers soon.

Please advice.
Thanks
Shrikant

Get a re-entry permit for both of you. Demonstrate that the visit/relocation abroad is temporary in nature due to a job assignment with a clear ending date for say 2 years later. Pay the taxes in US as a PR.

Maintain ties back in the US, i.e. bank account, keep the house if you own one, save utilities bills in you names, credit card bills to the US address, etc.

The key here is your intent and how you domonstrate it with the temporary stay abroad. If you don't stay outside of you for > 6 months at a time and travel back to the US in between, then finally come back after a temporary stay abroad, you may qualify for naturalization in time, if you meet all the other rules. If you end up staying outside US for more than 1 year at a time, then you will qualify after 4 year+1 day of returning. Check out the uscis.gov site.

US and India have a tax treaty that avoids double tax.

if you still have income in the US, that income might be taxed twice (in the US and in India). Furthermore, if you have income in India during your stay abroad it also has to be reported to the US tax authorities (you may get a tax credit tough for foreign tax paid). Double taxation issues, especially if capital income is involved in multiple countries, can be complicated. Get also advice from a knowledgeable Tax advisor !
