Job position
I have been a teacher since 1997, and I got my green card on 2004 (My School Distric granted and worked on behalf of my permanent residence) . I was advised to maintain my job position for a reasonable time in order to keep my permanence residence. How long is supposed to be working as a teacher. Any insights?

Take a look at the "sticky" from Rajiv at the top of the page : " Rajiv's opinion on changing jobs after GC" ( when GC is employment based ).

Change Job after GC
Thanks for your input Rajiv (moderator). I think it is a good comment and useful opinion from you to take as consideration and explanation about this complex process and CIS rules and laws. My belief it's that fairly speaking if you may want to move on and improve your career, definitively your position and job may change in pursuing advance in your life. I have no idea and experience in the system and immigration laws, but I will follow what is appropriate and safe to keep and maintain my GC.
I may think every case and situation is very different and as you said, depending on the history and clean record of the employee, it may impact and affect positive or negative to him. Also if the employer it's still in need of your services and you may increase you skills and ability in the job, that's a good point to consider. Thanks again. Good forum! |
