Frist's bill introduced
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:S.2454:
Above is the link to Frist's bill. This is really good. No provisions for guest/illegal workers. This would have a good chance to pass. We need to push for this.

It is same as Specter's markup except the guest worker program. It is good for backlog reduction, but it has removed the elimination of per country limit in EB visas thro AC21.
We hope thios bill passes w/o any delay. |

Looks like we have a win win situation. IF either of the bill is passed we can acheive our goals.
But I wish that Frist bill will pass as it will clear out most of the mess created by illegals. Good Luck to all. |

Legal jargon ...
Quote:
All this legal jargon provides job security to lawyers. If everyone could write and understand these laws then lawyers would be out of a job. Its funny how they make simple things seem so complex by adding fancy words and being cryptic. Anyway, I think these latest developments are positive for the legal community. Its high time we got some fair treatment. Although I do not want illegals to get preference over us I do hope they get some relief. They also deserve some sort of resolution to their problems. What really needs to happen is that illegal and legal immigration needs to be handled separately and not lumped together. Neither one gets anything when they are both thrown together in the same bill. regards, saras76 Last edited by saras76; 17th March 2006 at 03:33 PM. |

We shouldnt worry about Senate. They will pass either Specter's or Frist's bill.
We should be worried about Congress. They will block everything. No Congressman wants to ease Immigration in election year. |

Same fate as S 1932 bill
Guys:
I don't want to discourage you, but just heard from experts on Fox News channel that this whole immigration bill is going to blow up during conference with house. They all said immigration is politically too sensitive in this election year to be passed by the 109th congress. Both pro- and anti- immigrant congressmen are just tring to win votes by taking pro- and anti- immigrant stances. Seems to me just a big drama being played by these politicians who know very well this thing is not going anywhere. So don't expect any outcome until the November elections. Sorry, I know feelings of many of you will be hurt, but its better to get hurt in the very beginning rather than after a few weeks of accumulating hope and then seeing that being blown with the wind. |

Probably true ..

This being election year, it is to hard to predict what might happen. Decisions are not going to be made out of logic or fairness, they are all going to be politically motivated. We have to hope that somehow we end up in someones political favor and get through. Its going to be tough. regards, saras76 Last edited by saras76; 18th March 2006 at 09:04 PM. |

the election is overrated. what, how many anti-immigrants will vote for democrats? and if they stay home, the dems will win. and if the dems win, more immigration.
but yes, it will be somewhat of a factor. but enforcement has to be key and at the core. and don't make the mistake of making friends with tancredo and others. unless you are the next bill gates and from sweden, they have no use for you. i like frist's bill for th emost part. now it needs a couple of other things and a wall and verification system. |

Call Bill Frist
I called Bill Frist's office yesterday to show support for the Frist's immigration bill. I told the phone operator my side of the story as well.
If you guys have the time, please call Bill Frist @ 615-3529411. |
