Things to worry about if thinking of going for Re-entry permit

I got my GC couple of months back (Employment based). I am still with my original employer and am thinking of going back to India for 2-3 years. I have few questions:

1. Is it any better in terms of getting the re-entry permit if I stick to the same employer in India? I would prefer not to stick to my current employer after several years of GC confinement.
2. Can Re-entry permit be obtained only once in life or I can reapply?
3. Anything else I need to worry about?
4. What happens if I decide to stay back in India after 2-3 years and only want to come here on business trips later in my life, what are the complications and what do I need to do in terms of my GC?

Thanks,

The best way to do it, is just GIVE UP your GC and go back to India for good... then, if you want to come back to the U.S, try to get a tourist visa...
*** 2 or 3 year stay in India = abandon your residency in the U.S

Thanks for everybody's input. May be I said it not in the right tone, but I do not really want to move, but temporarily go to India for 1-2 years. Few acute family issues to take care and I suspect it will take that much time for everything to settle down..
