Question Double status h1 and h4 Vermont

I'm from Boston, MA. Here is my case:

I was on OPT until December 18, 2005.
On October 27, 2005, I applied for a H4 visa (husband has H1).
On December 16, 2005 a company hired me and applied for my H1(master's cap).
On December 23, 2005 my H1 was approved and mailed to my home address. So I started working.

Immediately, I sent a petition to withdraw my H4 application to Vermont service center of BCIS.

I sent it in using certified mail with return receipt on December 29, 2005.

On January 25, 2006, I received a mail that my H4 application was approved on January 23, 2006. I received a signature return receipt stamped by Vermont on January 9, 2005 acknowledging that they received my letter. However, it seems that my withdraw request was simply ignored.

I never received any official withdrawal receipt from the BCIS except the post office return receipt.

What should I do now? Can I still work for my company? I still have the return receipt, certified mail receipt and email delivery notice of my withdrawal letter, can I use them to prove that it was BCIS's fault that the H4 got approved instead of cancelled?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Aylin
