changing field after employer spons GC

I recd GC thru my employer using EB1A as a research scientist. I am planning to become a Patent Agent by taking the patent bar.

I was wondering how this affects my GC status. I have heard about people doing MBA after getting GC.

Isn't the EB1 filed by yourself and not the employer?

I believe that if that is the case, you can switch whenever you want.
