Question about I-90 efiling form item?

Having lost my green card a few months ago, I was filling out the I-190 and got stumped by the question:
City of Residence where you applied for an Immigrant Visa or Adjustment of Status?

To give some background. I'm an Indian citizen and my petition for a permanent residence was approved while I was already in the US, through the employment based permanent residency category. At that time, I lived and worked in the town of Skokie, in the metro Chicago Area. I then opted for consular processing over adjustment of status for visa processing, and travelled to my hometown Mumbai. I got my permanent resident stamp in the US consulate in Mumbai and arrived in San Francisco in October 2000..

So what is my city of residence where I applied for an Immigrant Visa. Is it Skokie, IL (place of employment & US residence) or is it Mumbai, India (hometown where consular processing was done)?

Please enlighten me.

I guess in your case it will be the "Permanent Address" you provided in DS-230.

In the next block you provide the name of consulate (Mumbai).

Thanks Pralay

Looks like you nailed the right answer. I pulled out my immigration visa application folder and found form OF-230 PART II. The item on the form is titled
PERMANENT ADDRESS IN THE UNITED STATES. And I had listed my Skokie, IL address at that time. So I will list Skokie as my City of Residence where I applied for an immigrant visa in my I-90 application.
