Some Questions

I have a few questions for my valuable friends in this forum. My application was filed on 30 Jun 2005 by my employer in USA. They gave me the reference number back in August. Previous experiences for others regarding VSC have shown me that i am due a result any time now

Now, i have some questions about it.

1) What is RFE ?
2) One of my friend's last updated date changed yesterday, but there isn't any column for Approved or Rejected. How would i know that ?
3) What is the next step in after they approved my application.

Thanks in Advance !!!

Same thing happened to my application too. Last Updated date changed on 10 Oct but there is no status change. I am desperately trying to find out what could be the reason for that, my employer told me that they have not received anything from USCIS as of now. Let me know if ur friend comes to know about anything.

Once u get ur approval and if u are in India(Fresh H1), u can ask ur employer to send the document and then u can take an appointment in US consulate in India to get ur H1B stamped. I think ur employer will tell u what to do next once u get ur approval documents.
If ur are in US (change in status) then once u receive u document u should check ur I94 number it should be exactly same as ur previous I94 which u have right now. Then u can change ur job in next 60 days once u get ur first sal in US with new employer ur status is changed from visa u have right now to H1B.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I am missing something here after all this is my first experience too.

max909,
RFE is request for more evidence by the INS. INS generally sends RFE when additional documents are required to support the H1B petition. It can also send RFE when some documents are missing or originals of some documents are required.

It happened to me as well.

My last updated date has been changed from 7/25 to 10/10, but there is no change in the status. I also informed my employer about this change. It's been about a week since this update has happened, but my employer hasn't received anything from USCIS yet. So, we know that something is happening but don't know what exactly it is.

If anyone in the forum has more info on this, please update the forum for the benefit of others. Thanks.
