h1b visa appoved, change of satus not !!!!

hello,

i would have a stange question.
I have an I797 notice action for a h1b. And it states that my visa and change of status was approved. I have my new I-94 and all the deal.

Near all this I received a letter stating that my change of status from j1 to h1 was not approved because of the time gap between the two visas (June 30 till Oct 1 2005).

If anybody has a similar or have heard of something like this please let me know what is the procedure of getting this thing clarified.
