My partner is an LPR

Hi guys,

My partner is an LPR. We lived together in Australia for long, but didn't get married yet. He is now working in the US, and wants to take me there with him. So, we're planning to get married this year.

Would it be alright if I enter the US by multi-entry visa, then get married, and register a marriage certificate there? After that, he can file I-130 for me.

I am not sure if I will be allowed to do so???

Do you guys think that's a good idea? I don't want to get marked on my passport!!

Thanks Joe,

I'll consider this. Unfortunately, my partner doesn't want to be a US citizen, but it's alright, as I don't want to go for it either.

save for H1 and L1, what about other visa types, like B1, H2B, Q1, P2, P3, and so on...?

I am presuming you are an Australian Citizen? If so why would you need a multi-entry visa to the US? You can enter using the visa waiver program. For work purposes, Australians can enter using E-3 Visa (final stages of implementation) and this is similar to H1B except that a block of 10,000 or so Visas are reserved for Australian citizens. So even though H1B visas will run out the E3 Visa should ensure that Australians can take up employment offers much more easily.
