What happens if a tourist sponsored by LPR over-stayed in US?

My friend has the following situation and wants to know how to handle:

What happens if a tourist sponsored by LPR over-stayed in US?

For some reason, if tourist visa extension gets denied or never applied and the person stayed beyond the I-94 period.

Does it affect the LPR in anyway? How does it affect the person who over-stayed?

The person can be denied any future visit in USA for certain number of years.

Normally when a visitor applie for visa extension he/she has 120 extra days or the upto the day of denial (whichever is shorter) to stay in USA lawfully.

If visitor never applied for extension, any stay beyond I-94 is unlawful.

It definitely affects the person who overstayed (explained above). It does not affect LPR directly, but any future visa application of other visitors sponsored by this LPR can be affected.
