Employer sponsored green card

Hello hello again.

As a fall back plan, I am thinking of just having my firm sponsor me for a green card. I was wondering whether anyone has definitive answers for the following:

(1) What is the average waiting time to get approval for an employer sponsored green card application from the time it is filed to the time it is approved?

(2) After the employer sponsors the applicant and files the application, what are the rules about the employee leaving the employer before the application is approved? Can the employee leave the employer before the application is approved? Does the employee have to wait until the application is approved before leaving? If so, once the application is approved, can the employee leave the employer?

Thanks

Average time varies depending on your category, your nationality, background check. My LC was RIR which was fast track and it took
me 2.5 years to be approved even with that. Then I485/I140 was approved 6
months later, so 3 years for me in total. Nowaday, PERM was started and
LC might be faster. Some people is waiting very long time with I485,
becasue they get stuck in background check at FBI.

As for leaving employer, once 180days pasts after I485 filing, you can
leave the employer without disturbing your GC process.
