Strange situation - anyone with same experiance ?

My parents are scheduled to appear for their immigrant visa (GREEN
CARD) interview at Chennai consulate in the second week of July. They
are being sponsored by my sister (their daughter) who is a US citizen.

Seven years ago, my parents had visited US on a tourist (B) visa.
While they were in US, twice they requested for visa extension and
were granted. They left US in Jan of 2000. They DID NOT go out of
status or illegally stay in US ever. They lost the visa extension
approval as it has been over five years.

The travel agent who is helping out to fill the forms for the
interview, tell us that my parents need to produce the visa extension
approval notices at the time of their immigrant visa interview. Is
that necessary? If so how could we obtain a duplicate?

Appreciate your response
Sincerely
Tony

no, they will most likely not be asked for it. Especially, since they didn't overstay.

You never know.

I know you don't have much time but apply for duplicate approval, just-in-case. You can request USCIS for duplicate approval by filling I-824.
