I-797 with a I-751 Waiver Petition in process

Dear Sir,

My parents filed I-130 8 years ago and I recently got I-797 approving my greencard.

In those 8 years, I got married to an US citizen and I got divorced. I filed I-751 waiver petition and I am waiting for a hearing.

My immigration attorney says that the I-797 will not benefit me. There is nothing I can do except wait for the hearing regarding my I-751 adjustment of status.

Is there anyway I can use my I-797 to increase my chances of keeping my greencard?

I would really appreciate any insights.

Thank you,

Selena
