It's been more than one year....

Hi all,

Can someone tell me, how the Immigration at POE can track or proof that a PR has been outside of the US for more than one year?
They never swiped either the PR(Green)Card nor the Passport at the point of departure from US in December 2003!
(I had a serious medical status abroad, which kept me from travelling back to the US and now want to return asap).

Thank you for sharing any information on this....

Hipster

Where did you travel TO? Don't forget that the US shares data with other countries, as well as airlines.

Even if there's no record of your departure, CBP will ask you when you left. If you've been gone more than 6-12 months, then the proof is not on them, but on you.

I've travelled to Switzerland. I just wonder how "risky" it would be to travel back without an re-entry permit or else. Which to my understanding I should have done before leaving anyway, but since I never knew that I would be forced staying that long....
I just want to go back with the least hassle, and asap too....

you cannot get a reentry permit after leaving the u.s. however, if a stay abroad was due to circumstances beyond your control, then that is not held against you. a medical issue is completely acceptable as an extenuating condition for overstaying abroad - provided you can furnish proper documentary evidence. you should not have a problem.

InfoPass Appoinment Experts Please help..

Hi,
My Address on the file with USCIS is in Dallas, Texas (I still recieve all official mails to that address only) and right now I stay in Montgomery AL, I was wondering can I go to the Birmingham, AL (its open on saturdays also) for my I-551 passport stamped, I called up the 1-800 no: on infopass website and they were telling me that I have to fly all the way to Dallas and get my I-551 stamped.

While taking the appoinment on the website it is directing me to go to Atlanta office (as I've given my AL Zip).

Please suggest what should I do now?
Can I go to Birmingham, AL or
Can I go to Atlanta, Ga or
Should i go to Dallas, Texas.

Also What all documentation should I take with me. (I dont have EVL with me)
Cos I was on company B on H1 when I got my GC Approved.
Company A filed for my GC.
After Stamping Should I immediately start to work with company A.
Can I just start to work with company B on my GC.

Thanks for all your help
