Can a non resident buy a house in this country?

Hi,

If this is an inappropriate question for this forum, I apologize in advance.

I have an uncle who does not live in this country, but wants to buy a house here for investment purposes? Is he legally allowed to do so? Can anyone point me to any resource regarding this subject?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
hbt

yes he can.
he can even get "no documentation" mortgate loan, which requires 30% down payment from any bank.

However if he rents the house and makes income. then he has to pay income tax...need taxid, etc.
