ADDRESS CHANGE - weird experience

Hi,

I send AR-11 thru mail (forgot to certify). also i called 1-800 number, customer service agent told me to write a letter to local imigration center, mentioning about address change. I asked couple of times, if she has changed my address in their system, she said she is note down that, and give that to her officer, but still asked me to write letter. I felt she was very confused, she was aksing same questions multiple times. I felt she was doing something wrong, or not trained.

Is that usual? Do we still have to send letter to local Immigration center.

Thank you,
krishna

When I did this recently, I was told that I should either call the 800 number like I did or write a letter to the local Immigration office. You have file AR-11 and send it in regardless.

i am not sure what would be the right thing to do but I sent in my AR-11, called the 800 nubmer, and wrote a letter to TSC (texas service center).

hope that helps.

You have to file AR-11. Thats for the Department of Homeland Security.
That has nothing to do with updating for your cases.
To change the address on any pending cases you have with the USCIS you either phone them or write the center a letter stating your A#, Your receipt numbers, etc.
Once the center has received it you will get a letter from them in about a month saying the address change has taken place. It showed up in about 3 days after I phoned as a LUD on my I-485 case that was pending at the time.
I got the letter about 3.5 weeks later.

1 (800) 375-5283 Pick Option 1 then 2 then 1, be prepared to be on hold about 20 minutes or so.By phone have your receipt numbers, A#, and receive date for all pending applications. You can update your children under 18 also but for your spouse they will need to phone to do their cases.

You have to file AR-11 for all members of the family who are not citizens.
