Question <<<<<< I-90 >>>>>

Hi all,

Is filing I-90 on-line faster than filing it in a local office in terms of processing time ? I am doing it for correcting a mistake made by INS.

Is I-90 always processed at the Service Center(in my case Vermont), except for taking the finger prints(in case needed, I am not sure whether it is required)? My I-485 was approved at the local office after it was transferred from Vermont for interview. So I am trying to find out whether my I-90 as well would be transferred to the local office even if I file it on line.

What is the normal processing time for I-90? I am planning a trip to India in Feb, 2005.

Thanks in advance,
Kute

I did not get the stamping done on the passport as I got the card quite fast, within 15 days of approval. Now it is 10 months after the approval. Can I get the passport stamped now?

I found on the INS site that we can file I-90 online as well.

I am trying to find out whether the I-90 is getting processed at the service center or at the local office. Or does it differ depending on each case? For example, my I-485 was approved at the local office after the interview. So, Will my I-90 be transferred to local office for sure, even if I file it on-line?

Are the Plastic card(GC) always issued from the Sevice centers?

Thanks
Kute

Thanks again .

Is there a way to find out the I-90 processing time for local offices?

Quote:
It is always processed at the local office. The service centers have nothing to do with the I-90. And it does not matter where the I-485 was processed
Does it mean that I-485 is always processed at the local offices whether an interview was conducted or not?

****,

The service centers are just managing the print facilities.
Are you sure? If the service centers were just managing print facilities, who are processing I-485 cases that are approved without getting transferred to any local offices for conducting interviews etc...

I am not an expert. Just trying to make sure how it works.

Hi ****,

Probably you are wrong in saying that I-90 is always processed at the local office. I spoke to INS this morning (actully I called to set up an appointment to file the I-90 at the local office). When asked the INS agent told me that, I-90 is always processed at the Service centers contrary to what you said. Local offices just do the finger printing.

It makes sense too. If you go to the USCIS web site to check on the processing time, I-90 is listed only under a service center.

Cool I-90 is moving fast

Here is my timeline:

Nov 3 - Filed I-90 at L.A. field office (300 N. Los Angeles Street)
Dec 1 - Received notice of action letter, saying it the card will be produced in upto 270 days.
Dec 3 - Received USCIS email update, saying that " the case has been approved and a card has been ordered and will be mailed to me once it is available".
Dec 7 - Received GC in the mail

For those who are still hestiate to file I-90, I hope my experience can ease your paranoia

MF
