6 months safe period starts at IV getting date or at POE date?

i got immigrant visa. i have gone through the regular cp route. Now, say for example, i received IV on 1-Jan and i do POE on 1-may .

if to be on the safe side, i need to stay with the sponsoring employer for around 6 months, when will this 6 months start...1-jan or 1-may? can i safely say that i was working off-shore for the sposoring company until 1-may? so that 6 months period starts from 1-jan?

You are admitted as a permanent resident the day your arrive at POE. Visa issuance date is irrelevant.
