What happens to Green Card if I move back to India?

Hello Everybody,
I have a simple question. Do you guys know how can I keep the green card
status if I move back to India? Do I have to give up my green card? Or is
it fine if I come to USA at a certain interval?

Now, if I come back to USA (let's say) after 4-5 years on H1 again,
can I re-apply for green card again? Have you ever heard of this kind
of situation? If yes, would the previous greencard thing weakens the case?

You have one alternate option....

Maintain ties with US. You could do this by working for US company in India, holding your bank account and other assets inside US, possibly maintaining residence in US, etc, etc.

If I were you, I would not count on what happens 4-5 years from today. Would H1 visa be available 4-5 years from now? No one knows.

One of the options is Re-entry Permit. You can use Re-entry Permit to be away from USA 2 yrs at a time. The Re-entry permit can be re applied after 2 yrs for a total upto 6 yrs.

The only catch is that the Permit has to be applied before leaving USA. It doesnt have to be approved before leaving....
