Visa NOT Required for Travel to Mexico with GC
Folks,
I just went and came back from a trip to Mexico. With the GC and my Indian passport there was no problem at all and no visa was required to enter Mexico. No questions asked at the port of entry, stamped as a tourist. And of course no problem at all coming back to the US. There have been some postings here expressing confusion about whether Indian passport holders need a visa to travel to Mexico and that is why I post my experience. Also there are some web pages which says that you need a visa, so I was confused too prior to my trip. However the travel agent assured me that I don't need a visa and I also verified the same with the Mexican Consulate in Houston. I hope this information is helpful. |

Thanks.
I believe there is a 30 (?) day limit though... anyone knows for sure?

Alren,
You are wrong. You might or might not need to have a visa depending of your current citizenship. Permanent Residency in the US does not have anything to do with it. My wife, being a GC holder, is from a EU country and had to get a visa in order to visit Mexico. |

I think US PRs having Indian citizenship do not require visa.

That might be so, but the title of the thread was " Visa NOT Required for Travel to Mexico with GC", there was no mentioning specifically of Inidian citizenship. Not everyone here comes from India, thus requirements are different for different folks.

Use this tool to determine documentation needed.
As I have posted elsewhere, there is a tool that lets you enter your citizenship, your place of alien residence, your destination country and connecting country (if needed).
http://www.delta.com/travel/trav_ser...atic/index.jsp For example, a German national with a US GC traveling to Mexico, produces this information: National GERMANY (DE) /Residence U.S.A. (US) Destination MEXICO (MX) MEXICO (MX) Passport required. Visa not required for a touristic stay of max. 30 days, provided holding: - proof of residence; and - Tourist Card/FMT form issued by airlines (free of charge). Minors up to/incl. 17 years: (a notarized letter of consent has a validity period of 30 days and is good for a single entry only). If traveling either alone or with only one parent, minors are required to hold valid passport; and - if one of the parents is deceased: Death Certificate; or - if Birth Certificate shows that minor has only one parent: recommended to hold Birth Certificate together with passport. Visitor must hold: - ticket and documents required for onward/return journey; and - sufficient funds. Non-compliance with entry regulations will result in fines for carrier ranging from USD 850.- to a maximum of USD 1800.-, and deportation of passenger to country of origin at carrier's expense.
