Updating Pay roll records!

My application recently got approved and passport stamped.waiting for the GC card. I asked my employer to update my payroll records and they told me that they dont need as Green card doesnt affect payroll front.

Can Gurus, please clarify on this.

Thanks **** for your response. But what do they update in I-9 ( I mean which section). Please dont think otherwise, I am trying to explain to my company to update I-9. But they are not.

Never Mind, I got the answer. I just downloaded I-9 Form and I saw in section I there is a column for PRs.

Get a no-legend SSN card and use the SSN card and your DL
to update I-9 and put down your A-number
