how important is the affidavid of support and what if my father who is sponsoring me did not declare enough money? is there any way around that?

I assume you are talking about green card support. In this case, no Affidavit of Support, no green card. Now, there is a hardship rule. But you need to be able to prove this. Otherwise, get a sponsor for your Affidavit of Support. The law is very clear in this.

let's clarify a little. Your father will have to sign an affidavit of support for you. If he can't show enough income and assets, he can ask somebody else (a friend or a relative) to become a co-sponsor. Please read the instructions on form I-864 very carefully.
