I had my passport stamped recently(I-551) but do not have the physical green card yet. I hold a indian passport. Do I need a visa to get to Canada on travel. Driving to Vancouver in particular. Any advise is appreciated.

You don't need a visa as you are US permanent resident now. You do have to bring your stamped passport, if you don't have the plastic yet. Once you get the plastic, it's all you need.

No you don't need a visa

My information as as recent as May 10 when I went to Montreal.

Don't forget to get a entry stamp from Canadian immigration
when you enter Canada and another entry stamp from US
immigration when you return. This way, you can have
records so that you don't need to wqrite down in
seperate log.

Maybe I am too late in answering - however -- stamping is fine! When we went to Toronto -- the immigration officers just checked the GC Seal on the passport. That is it. They didn;t give any seal on the passport. All they ask is - where are you headed to!

Have fun in Vancuver!
