Good time for Name change during G.C or After citizenship

INS issued me a plastic card with incorrect name . I m planning to correct this by filing I-90 . However to due to delay in the I-90 processings i m not sure what would be a good thing to do. I need your suggestions on when is the best time todo.

Correct it after citizenship ( its 3 yrs i have my G.C dont want to jeopardise anything while going for citizenship)
OR
Correct it now by filing I-90 . Given the delays up to an year ( I m thinking may be i have ample time for my qualification for citizenship)

Also, i guess you will be able to travel during the processing period. Any experienced hands in this forum who can help? do they take your card away ? Do they give a temporary stamping on your passport? Valid for how long ?

Do we need to have the corrected card to apply for citizenship. What if there is a longer delay ?

For how long the stamp is valid on the passport.
