Need help

Hey Joe,

I have been reading all the posts about starting and conducting business in the USA including all the pitfalls and restrictions. I have a couple of specific questions, if you could help me with these, I would appreciate your help.

1) If I am employed on H-1 with a consultant company ABC working at a client XYZ, can I bring in more business for my consultant company and get some financial gain out of it.

2) To be precise, can I have an agreement with my consultant that for every new empoyee that I bring in and get a project for; I get either a fixed amount or a certain pre-decided percentage? Can my consultant pay me a referral bonus or a fixed monthly/quarterly/annual bonus LEGALLY for new business that I bring in?

I hope you got my point, if not maybe I can try explaining it in a different way?

Thanks a ton,
Rajat.

Joe,

Thanks for the response.
Based on your response, I hae another doubt.
If my wife is a partner in that company, as an investor, can I be working for that company on H1, of course I cannot file for my GC thru that company since my wife will hold more than 5% in this company?
Or would that be a problem for my H1 transfer purposes?

Thanks again in advance.
Rajat.
