driver's license extension

Folks,

Is there any problem to extend driver's license in NJ in a situation when DL expiry date = H-1B expiry date. H-1B extension has been filed but approval expected about 2 months after DL/old H-1B expiry date ? All I have is H-1B extension filing receipt notice.

Thanks,

Get it renewed as soon as possible, take all yours receipts/papers with you. Otherwise they are after H1Bs, professional category entilted for B-Class.

ashakthi,

For how long did he get extension? I am curious cause in NJ - they see you papers (H1B/I-94/EAD etc) and then based on dates - they give you DL. I am sure of H1b too as I got mine based on same.

Your existing license (soon to be expiring) is of 2 types

- old license without any mention about temporary status (I guess issued before 9/11)
you can wait tillyou get letter to renew by mail. YOu can get non-photo license without showing any proof of identification. I am sure NJ is discontinuing this within some months.

- license with mention about temporary status
they will give you temporary license till application date + approx processing time mentioned on Receipt Notice.

1200 bucks for premium processing is well worth rather than going through all these aggravation.

Jharkhandi, I think he got till 2007 but the STATUS Check is after 6 months from the date of issued this time...

That may be because of he used the the receipt note to get it renewed.

Good Luck
