Business on iEAD

Hi There!

I'm on H1 and my 140+485+EAD applications are still pending. However, it has been more than 120 days since we filed for EAD so I'm eligible to get an iEAD.

On the other side my wife got her EAD a month ago and she started a company and she is the only owner of the company. Now my question is regarding legality of me helping my wife in her business (like taking care of purchases, sales etc).

I understand that iEAD gives me rights to work for anyone. But in my scenario what would it mean for me to "use" iEAD even though I'm not going to get any salary or anything from my wife's company.

The reason I'm asking this is because I want to keep my H1 status untill I get my 485 approved. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm under the impression that using iEAD will cancel my H1 status.

Thanks

Moeen

Hi ****!

Thank you very much for your reply.

You are right nobody works for a for-profit organizaiton for free. My wife is just starting her business and she needs a lot of help. There is no way that her business is going to be profitable within a year or so. My intention was to support her until she stands on her feet and can afford a full time employee. But I guess she is on her own, I'll have to keep out of her business (to keep my H1 status intact).

Thanks again

Moeen
