acquiring 3rd country citizenship after getting green card

Can one acquire 3rd country (other than your native country) citizenship after acquiring a green card? Is there any impact on the green card?

Thanks

****:

But isnt it true that the first step to citizenship of any other country is permanent residency which has an element of physical presence.

Now if i am a citizen of country A, GC holder of country B and thinking of citizenship of country C...then i am guessing citizenship of country C is possible without affecting GC status of country B assuming i meet the physcial presence criteria of country B which may/ may not be possible and country A provides dual citizenship.

thanks Joe that was exactly what I was asking. Is there any possibility of "intention to abandon residence" that can come up?

That depends on the country. Each country has different citizenship rules.
For example, some countries give citizenship to people who are married to a citizen of their country, regardless of where that person lives.
Of course, if residency in a country is required to get citizenship there, then it isn't possible for a US Permanent Resident to acquire that particular country's citizenship without losing Permanent Residency in the US. But that wasn't the question. Assuming that whatever is required to get citizenship of a particular country is already fulfilled, the act of acquiring that citizenship has no effect (positive or negative) on the GC.

What if that "third country" is a country officially hostile to
USA? Obtaining the citizenship of that country may cause
removability on national security grounds
