Employment problem after GC
Hi,
I have just got my green card about a month back thru consular processing . I am having some problems with my employer as he's not paying me on time. Is it okay if I join some other company as a part time employee and do not resign from my original employer (My employer may not pay in this case)thru which i got my green card. How will this decision affect my residency in future. Any inputs will be appreciated. Thanks |

Try to resolve the issue and document everything. If unsuccessful, you can resign. Your risk would be negligible, if you can show that you intended to work for the sponsoring employer, who, in turn, did not honor the contract.

Like Aibolit said: Best option: Resolve the conflict with your employer/ manager Better option: Get laid off...not sure how you can do this! Good option: Resign...obviously if you resign and in future apply for citizenship this MAY (not will) come up.

I am in a similar situation. I was promised the prevailing wage rate afte the GC but have not recieved it yet.
I probably not going to leave my postion soon as i am comfortable in my job and quite frankly there nothing out there but will this be an issue at the time of my application for citizenship. Do they look if the sponsering company met its obligation thanks |

ddagsyn:
It may / may not come up in the citizenship process. Even if it comes up it is not your problem coz your employer promised to pay you $1.2x and they are still paying you $1x. You will not be penalized for this but at the same time if your employer has promised then you should be getting what was mentioned in that notarized employment letter that you carried for your cp interview.
