Need a good resource for Green Card rules and restrictions

I need to find a good resource for Information relating to the Green Card lottery, not the actual application process just the rules and restrictions related to living and working in the US with the Green Card.Here are the tyes of questions i need answered

How Long after i get the Green Card (If i win) can i start working?

How long does the Green Card last for, is it for life?

If for some reson i apply and i get accepted but do not take the green Card at that time will it exclude me from the Green Card lottery in the future?

Do i have to have a Job lined up in the US before before i apply for the Green Card?

Do you know any websites that may have any more information relating to the questions i was asking before?

The US Immigration website answers a lot of questions in regards to applying but little information is provided in regards to restrictions and rules if you are picked for the GC Lottery.

I know this question does not really relate to the subject this thread is under but besides the GC Lottery is there anyother way for for me to get a Visa to be able to work and live in the states without being sponsored by a potential employer?
I was born and live in Australia and have professional skills in the Job market but it seems that if you dont have millions of dollars, a sponsor or marry an American my options are very limited.

If you can shed any light on this or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
