GC and canadian

I have a friend who is GC holder and going to be Canadian citizen. However, the GC is only stamped on her original passport. If she gives up original passport, can she still keep GC for traveling with Canadian passport into US? Can she apply US citizen later?

yes!

I have raised a similar question a few weeks ago. Let me tell ya, double pr is possible only in theory. I maintain my Canadian status because I am married to a Canadian. I am also a GC holder.

This sounds great in theory. However, reality looks a bit more complicated.

I will make sure that my U.S. status is secured by meeting all PR requirements. Perhaps I will let go of my Canadian status voluntarily. I can always apply for it later.

Furthermore, doesn't one of the questions on Canadian citizenship forms ask if you have taken residency anywhere else since becomeing a PR
As ysolong has said above, the only way you can legally maintain your PR status in both Canada and the U.S. is by physically residing in the U.S. (i.e. to maintain US PR requirements) and having a Canadian citizen spouse living with you (i.e. to maintain Canadain PR requirements).

Ofcourse there are other possibilities such as working in the U.S. for a Canadian government related employer, or being on official deputation to the Canadian wing of your U.S. based employer.

But apart from these, there is no legal way to maintain dual PR status.

A Canadian passport is not required to enter the US, only the card itself. I have not been asked to show mine since I became a US PR.
